Discover the Secrets of Beer at one of London’s Many Brewery Tours
Whether you are seeking the latest tastes at a specialist microbrewery or wanting to see how some of the most historic beers are made, London has plenty to offer. There are also plenty of tastings on offer! We take a look at some of the best brewery tours around – as long as you pre-book and are aged over 18!
Fullers are definitely the Goliath of the London Brewing trade. Londoners have been enjoying their brews for over two hundred years at its Griffin site down in Chiswick. There are lots of tales to hear about the changes that brewing has undergone, and offering a fascinating glimpse in beer-making history. Complete your tour with some tastings from different brews served up in the little museum on site.
If you are really keen, you can book any of the London holiday rentals and head to the Camden Town brewery which is much, much newer and has a very different style of beer. It has only been brewing at this site under the railway arches since 2010. This is where Hells Lager is brewed and you can try the beer straight from the tank – you can’t get fresher than that! Tours last up to an hour and a half along with an opportunity to try all the beers on offer and enjoy a free pint.
Down in Bermondsey, Fourpure is offering Friday night tours of the brewhouse enabling visitors to discover how the massive 4,000-litre batches are created starting with the grain and ending with the beer. Naturally, the session ends with a five-beer tasting flight as you learn how to differentiate between the different brews.
Want something really hands-on during your stay at self catering apartments in London? Then the Bermondsey based UBrew may have the answer. The six-hour guided session allows you to brew your own beer from scratch, before enjoying a drink or two in the taproom. You do have to wait before trying your own brew, as it will not be ready for a few weeks.

Perhaps cider is more to your taste? London’s first-ever Cidery has been set up in Bermondsey. A visit to Hawkes’s Taproom offers the opportunity to try cider from around the world, as well as discovering just how cider is produced. Relax afterward with a pizza – and enjoy a free pint of cider. The hard part is choosing as their choice is rather extensive!
