Kid friendly places to visit in London

Kids are spoilt for choice when it comes to fun activities in London. Being bored is the last thing kids will ever complain about! There are lots of kid friendly places to visit such as London Zoo, Legoland, the Harry Potter Studio Tour and Shrek’s Adventure.  Take a trip on the London Eye, or sail down the river in a jet propelled boat just like James Bond. Book a stay at Presidential Apartments Marylebone near George Street with family and take your time to explore a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s Tudor galleon, The Golden Hinde, on which he sailed round the world. Discover how mail used to zoom across London on a secret train at the Postal Museum – and try it out for yourself!

Most London museums and art galleries are truly kid friendly.  Ask about gallery packs encouraging kids to find items and play games as they go round the museum, or check out the numerous workshops where they can do lots of hands on activities.  Take a peek inside the fascinating the Museum of Childhood and discover what children played with a hundred years ago, or explore the Victorian schoolroom at the Ragged School Museum.

Stop off at Buckingham Palace to watch the eye catching Changing of the Guard ceremony.  Kids may hear some familiar tunes being played by the band, as their repertoire even includes movie soundtracks.  Stroll across St James Park and admire the ducks on the lake, before heading for Horse Guards Parade to see the mounted guards on duty.

Discover ghoulish tales of ghosts, murders and mystery at the Tower of London. If you time your visit carefully, and make a stop at Tower Bridge you may be able to enjoy the spectacular sight of the bridge being raised to allow vessels to pass underneath.  The Tower Bridge website gives details as to when this is happening, and it can happen up to four times a day. It makes a great photo opportunity!

If kids have some surplus energy, head for one of the Royal Parks where there is lots of space to run and play in safety.  Kids will love hunting for Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, playing in the water at the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain and exploring the playground dominated by a large pirate ship perfect for climbing and imaginative games.

Even at night there is plenty to keep kids happy.  Ask about last minute ticket deals and cancellations at London theatres, you may find some good cheap seats available to see top shows like Matilda, Wicked or Lion King.  Or just stroll along the River Thames and see the reflections in the water, or join one of the many walking tours around London discovering tales of its history, ghosts or even Harry Potter.  Check out for some of the leading short stay apartments in London for a luxurious family stay so as to explore the kid friendly places.
